One of my life-long dreams came to fruition on Thursday afternoon. I got to go to the very source of Guinness beer itself. There I stood at St. James gate, my eyes welling with tears and my heart bubbling with joy. So maybe it wasn't that dramatic, but I was pretty much like a kid in a candy store!
Meg and I and our friend Tom made the trek down to the Guinness storehouse and payed our fee for the tour. As cool as the tour was, what we really wanted most was that perfect pint up on the seventh floor in the sky lounge. And contrary to any other opinion, it absolutely tasted amazing right there. I cannot even put it into words, but it was soooooooo good that even Meg drank hers fast. There was a bit of time crunch to make sure we caught the train in time, but I think the fact that she finished hers before we did speaks volumes.
We are Dan & Megan Layman. We met in December '02, got engaged 7 weeks later, and were married in October '03. We are both natives of that great flat corn paradise called Illinois. In the fall of '04 we put all of our belongings in a truck and moved across the country to North Carolina.
We currently live in Charlotte although our hearts are still in the Apex/Cary/Raleigh area. Megan is a registered nurse at Presbyterian Hospital's Women's Center where she gets to care for moms and newborns. Dan is a student at Reformed Theological Seminary and a pastoral intern at Uptown Church (PCA). We've been here since summer of '06 and will be ready to move back to where our hearts are in '09 after Dan graduates with his M.Div. We don't have any children (yet!), but we do have a black cat named Gracie Belle.
We don't know what the future holds but we are sure excited to walk faithfully into the good works that God prepared beforehand for us to do. Thanks for joining us here on the journey!
